PEK and PKX Need Different Routes
PEK: Better for a Great Wall Decision
Capital Airport sits northeast of central Beijing. It usually creates the more practical starting point for Mutianyu and can also support a compact central-city route.
The terminal, arrival process, baggage status, and return flight still control the plan. Review the official PEK passenger portal before travel.
PKX: Better for a South-Central City Route
Daxing Airport is south of Beijing, so Temple of Heaven, Qianmen, a business meeting, or a controlled central route usually makes more sense than crossing the city toward the Great Wall.

Great Wall Route
Choose the Wall Only When the Airport Window Supports It
A Great Wall layover needs enough time for immigration, the drive, scenic-area procedures, cable-car or walking access, the visit itself, and a conservative return. A short connection cannot be rescued by driving faster.
From PEK, Mutianyu is usually the first section to evaluate because the route avoids a full central-city crossing. Badaling can also work when the traffic pattern and group priorities support it.

Compact City Route
Use One Geographic Cluster, Not a List of Famous Places
South-central route: Temple of Heaven, Qianmen, a local meal, and selected Tiananmen-area views. This is often the stronger PKX option.
Imperial-center route: Tiananmen and a short old-city walk. The Forbidden City should be added only with a confirmed reservation and a much larger time margin.

Overnight or Evening Route
Use the Night for Atmosphere, Then Protect the Morning Flight
An afternoon arrival with a next-morning flight can support Qianmen lights, a hutong dinner, a courtyard-area walk, or a short central night route. The hotel should be selected from the departure airport and required morning pickup time.
For a very early flight, stay near the airport and keep the evening short. For a later departure, a central hotel may support breakfast and one easy morning stop before the private return transfer.

Entry, Visa, and Document Checks
Do not rely on a tour page to decide whether you can enter China. Verify your nationality, travel document, onward ticket, destination pattern, visa status, and temporary-entry eligibility directly with official immigration and airline sources.
China's National Immigration Administration publishes the current 240-hour visa-free transit policy. Beijing's official international portal also lists the eligible countries, ports, required documents, and application procedure.

The Latest Safe Return Point Comes Before Sightseeing
AOXIANG normally plans the vehicle back at the departure terminal about three hours before an international flight, then adds more margin for peak periods, terminal transfers, baggage recheck, special-assistance needs, or an airline that requires earlier processing.
The operating airline's rule controls. PEK publishes international check-in guidance and reminds passengers to follow the airline's actual deadline on its official passenger notice. PKX departure and transport information should be reconfirmed through the official Daxing transport portal and the airline.
When the inbound flight arrives late, the sightseeing route is shortened first. The airport return time is not moved later to protect a tour stop.
How the Private Layover Service Works
Beijing has published official airport layover-tour programs, including Great Wall and central-city options at PEK. Those programs are separate from this private service and may have their own eligibility, dates, capacity, and registration conditions.
