The Ministry of Culture and Tourism is cracking down on summer tourism irregularities to safeguard the "hottest tourism season."

As the popularity of "Chinese summer tourism" continues to rise, some market irregularities have resurfaced. On July 9th, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism held a press conference, announcing a two-month summer special campaign, jointly launched with public security, market supervision, and other departments. The campaign will focus on combating illegal and irregular practices such as false advertising, unlicensed operations, forced purchases, and low-price traps.

The Ministry also simultaneously launched the "Guide to Avoiding Tourist Scams" and the "Travel Safety Handbook," providing safety tips to tourists through short videos, mini-programs, and other channels. Regarding the frequent appearance of shady solicitation practices such as "travel partners" and "personal tailors" on social media platforms, Yu Changguo, Deputy Director of the Ministry's Market Management Department, reminded tourists to verify travel agency business licenses, sign standardized contracts, and request invoices. "If you discover forced purchases, you can call the 12345 or 12301 hotlines to file an immediate complaint."

Currently, cross-departmental law enforcement teams have been established in key regions such as Yunnan, Hainan, and Beijing, conducting frequent inspections of scenic spots, shopping malls, and tourist buses. The Yunnan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism revealed that since July, it has investigated and dealt with 47 tourism-related illegal cases and administratively detained 12 "illegal tour guides," creating a safe, secure, and comfortable market environment for the peak summer tourism season.
