Sichuan's Top Ten Famous Attraction

Sichuan, the "Land of Abundance," boasts diverse charms, making every trip full of surprises. Here, you'll find adorable giant pandas, spicy and delicious hot pot, and the striking contrast of the ancient Shu civilization against snow-capped mountains and meadows. Along Sichuan's tourist routes, you can experience all four seasons in a single day: savor the gentle aroma of tea in the basin, gaze at Mount Gongga from the plateau, listen to the rustling of prayer flags in a Tibetan village, and sail through the emerald waters of the Bamboo Forest. Convenient high-speed rail and airport connections seamlessly connect Jiuzhaigou, Daocheng Yading, and Chengdu, making "fast travel, slow travel" the new norm for Sichuan tourism.

1. Jiuzhaigou

Jiuzhaigou resembles a deep valley shrouded in forest, hiding 108 distinctly colored "lakes." On clear days, Wuhua Lake simultaneously reflects seven or eight colors-blue, green, and golden. Nuorilang Waterfall, over 300 meters wide, resembles a vast curtain of water hanging from the mountain. In autumn, the mountains are blanketed in crimson foliage, while in winter, the snowy landscape creates a fairytale-like atmosphere, creating a "fairyland on earth" experience in all four seasons.

2.Huanglong

Huanglong is most famous for its over 3,400 colorful pools, cascading down the mountainside like a palette spilled into the valley. The travertine pools range in color from light blue to emerald green, and with the 5,588-meter-high Xuebaoding as a backdrop, every photo is a postcard-perfect shot. Every October, when the colorful forests emerge, Huanglong Valley instantly transforms into a "golden dragon."

3. Mount Emei

Mount Emei is one of China's four great Buddhist mountains. Its highest peak, Wanfoding, stands at 3,099 meters. Along the way, visitors can admire monkeys, ancient temples, and seas of clouds. The sunrise at Golden Summit is the most famous. As the sun breaks through the sea of clouds, golden light bathes the Ten Directions Samantabhadra statues, prompting many to climb the mountain in the middle of the night to secure a spot. Enjoy the azaleas in spring and the rime in winter-Buddha, mountain, clouds, and monkeys are all there.

4.Leshan Giant Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddha, carved into a cliff at the confluence of the Minjiang, Qingyi, and Dadu rivers, stands 71 meters tall, with enough space for two people to stand on its head. The most stunning view is from a distance by boat: the entire mountain appears like a Buddha, the river surging beneath its feet, unmoved for millennia. The nearby Nine-Curve Plank Road leads you to the Buddha's feet, and looking up reveals just how small you are.

5.Dujiangyan - Qingcheng Mountain

The Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a "super hydraulic engineering" dating back over 2,000 years, features water diversion at Yuzui, flood discharge at Feishayan, and water diversion at Baopingkou, and is still in use today. Qingcheng Mountain is nearby, its lush forests and Taoist temples shrouded in mist, resembling a real-life "immortal world." See the temples and temples on the front mountain and the waterfalls on the back mountain. In one day, you can "worship the waters of Dujiangyan and seek the truth at Qingcheng Mountain."

6.Daocheng Yading

Daocheng Yading is known as the "last pure land on the blue planet." Three 6,000-meter snow-capped mountains stand in a "品" shape, with the Milk Lake and the Five-Colored Lake nestled like two gemstones in the valley. Hiking to a height of 4,600 meters is tiring, but standing before the Milk Lake, with the snow-capped mountains reflected and the white clouds within reach, it's all worth it.

7.Siguniang Mountain

Mt. Siguniang, known as the "Oriental Alps," features four peaks lined up in a row. The main peak, Yaomei, rises 6,250 meters and soars into the sky. Shuangqiaogou is accessible by car to redwood forests and glaciers. Changpinggou is ideal for hiking, with snow-capped mountains, meadows, and yaks as its companions. The vibrant colors of the forests in autumn and the blanketing of snow in winter make it a photography paradise.

8.Sanxingdui

Located in Guanghan, Sichuan, it is the site of the ancient Shu civilization, dating back approximately 3,000 to 5,000 years. The 2.62-meter bronze standing figure, 1.38-meter-wide vertical-eyed mask, and 3.96-meter-tall bronze sacred tree unearthed in sacrificial pits No. 1 and No. 2 in 1986 astonished the world and were hailed as "one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century." Excavations resumed in 2021, revealing fragments of a golden mask, a bronze altar, and traces of silk, proving that the ancient Shu people had already mastered advanced bronze casting, gold hammering, and textile techniques. Entering the Sanxingdui Museum is like stepping into an "alien civilization": the exaggerated masks, mysterious golden scepters, and jade halberds engraved with symbols all tell of an ancient Shu Kingdom that existed alongside yet distinctly different from the Central Plains culture. The new museum (opening in 2023) will feature cutting-edge technologies such as naked-eye 3D and holographic projection, allowing visitors to "see a thousand years in one glance." If you have more time, visit Yazi River and Fanghu Park along the way, and in the evening, enjoy a bowl of Guanghan Lianshan Twice-Cooked Pork for a perfect end to your ancient Shu journey.

9. Langzhong Ancient City

Langzhong is one of China's Four Great Ancient Cities. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhang Fei defended the city for seven years. Surrounded by water on three sides and mountains on four sides, bluestone paved paths connect the Imperial Examination Hall, the Confucian Temple, and the Zhang Fei Temple. The scenery is most captivating at night, with the Jialing River reflecting the lights of countless homes. Eating hot pot by the river feels like stepping back into an ancient port. Don't miss the Baoning vinegar and beef noodles.

10. Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

To see red pandas, visit this "panda kindergarten" in Chengdu's northern suburbs. The pandas are most active between 8 and 10 a.m., climbing trees, doing somersaults, and clinging to their keepers' thighs, captivating the audience with their adorable presence. The base also houses companion animals such as black-necked cranes and red pandas. After your visit, head to the nearby Panda Post Office to mail a postcard with a panda stamp-a truly ceremonial experience.
