59 countries can enter Hainan for 30 days without a visa, and the "Chinese solution" for island vacations goes to the world
As the only free trade port with Chinese characteristics, Hainan has upgraded its entry policy again since May 2024: citizens of 59 countries can stay for 30 days without a visa, and the reasons for entry include tourism, trade, visiting relatives, medical treatment, exhibitions, sports competitions, etc. In the first month of the implementation of the new policy, the number of inbound passengers at Sanya Phoenix International Airport exceeded 110,000, a year-on-year increase of 210%, of which tourists from Russia, South Korea and Malaysia accounted for more than 60%.
The diversity of Chinese tourism is perfectly demonstrated in Hainan: tourists can experience the "Lost Chamber" aquarium in Sanya Atlantis in the morning, take a one-hour high-speed rail to the Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone in the afternoon to experience traditional Chinese medicine health care, and return to Haikou Duty Free City in the evening to "shop"; people who like outdoor activities can surf in Wanning Riyue Bay and take a paraglider in Lingshui to overlook the South China Sea, forming a multi-dimensional product matrix of "island + health care + sports".
In terms of convenience, Hainan continues to expand the passenger inspection channel, and 30 multilingual smart counters have been added at the two major airports of Meilan and Phoenix; the off-island duty-free shopping quota has been increased to 100,000 yuan per person per year, and the goods can be picked up on site and delivered directly to your home; the high-speed rail around the island has realized "scan code to ride", and the English version of 12306 allows foreign tourists to travel like locals.
The visa exemption for cruise ships is also very powerful: foreign tourist groups can stay for 15 days without a visa when entering via Haikou or Sanya by cruise ship, and can sail along the Beibu Gulf-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area-Pingtan, Fujian, creating a "one-stop, multi-stop" Maritime Silk Road. Hainan is becoming a "golden business card" for Chinese tourism to go global with its open, convenient and diverse image.
