Wuzhishan Tropical Rainforest

Wuzhishan Tropical Rainforest is located in the central part of Hainan Island. The main peak is 1,867 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in Hainan. The five jagged peaks are shaped like giant palms supporting the sky, looming in the sea of ​​clouds. The scenic area covers an area of ​​210,000 mu, including 90.63 square kilometers of virgin forest. It is known as the world's three best-preserved tropical rainforests along with the Amazon River Basin in South America and the tropical rainforest in Indonesia. The Shuiman River runs through the entire area. As the source of the Changhua River, its stream is sometimes turbulent like a galloping horse, and sometimes calm like Jiuzhaihaizi, forming a unique water system landscape.

 

The negative oxygen ion content here is as high as 10,000 to 15,000 per cubic centimeter, which is a veritable "natural oxygen bar". The following have been discovered in the scenic area:

Newly discovered species: In June 2024, forest rangers and experts jointly discovered the rare saprophytic plant Sansi Shuiyubei, which has less than 50 plants in the world
